Born 1938 in London, son of the late Dr. Thomas Hunt CBE MD FRCP and his wife Barbara; two sisters: Marigold (Mrs Paul Johnson), and Sarah (Mrs George Walden); educated Westminster School and Trinity College Cambridge (MA History & Anglo-Saxon); National Service 1956-58 (2nd Lieut. The Rifle Brigade, Malaya & Winchester); studied oboe with Terence Macdonagh, piano with Michael Mullinar, composition with John Burn; married: i. Ingrid Hoyle Geach (divorced 1971) ii. Dawn Aronson (died London 1999); two children by first marriage: actor Francesca Hunt, and pop-musician/song-writer Crispin Hunt; interests include travel, medieval art and history, literature, all the arts, cricket.
